UPCOMING WORKSHOP

Hot Water & Steam Radiators Explained!

Saturday October 22nd 10:00-12:00

With Ralph Salemme

radiators

Urbanminers will host a very timely and important workshop for homeowners. Ralph Salemme will provide us with an in depth look at good old fashion radiators. Urnanminers has over 40 recently salvaged cast iron radiators from local homes. Why are they so good for heating your house? What’s the difference between hot water and steam systems ? How do you install one ? How can you reduce heating costs ? Ralph has his own plumbing and heating business and teaches at Platt Regional Technical School in Milford. He has decades of experience and will answer ALL your questions (at least about heating systems).

10AM - Free Coffee & Doughnuts, workshop: 10:30 - 12:00
Suggested donation on sliding scale
Please RSVP so we can have an idea of how many!

CURRENT PROJECTS

Right now we are recovering materials from a 1920’s beach house located in Fairfield, CT
Including beadboard, fir flooring and windows. We anticipate the start of salvaging oak flooring and oak doors from a house in New York in May, and a house deconstruction in Woodbury CT is in negotiation. Check our website for new listings as these jobs commence.

For those of you that like treasure hunting we are currently doing a clean out of a barn filled with vintage collectibles.

Very soon we will begin the Deconstruction Training class at the Keefe Community Center here in Hamden for Gateway Community College. After the class, the second phase of this training will have the 12 students hired remove 3 houses in the Newhall section of Hamden in Conjunction with the Hamden Economic Development Corp.
